How to Submit Austin Energy E-Bike Rebate Application

In this article, we will guide you through completing the Austin Energy application and submitting it.

Steps

Step 1: Understand your eligibility

  • Your electrical provider must be Austin Energy or COA

  • You must have purchased a new e-bike from MOD BIKES

  • The application must be submitted within 60 days of purchase or delivery

  • The name and address on the invoice must match the name and address on the Austin Energy account.


Step 2: Prepare documents

  • All documents will be submitted digitally

  • You can download your invoice using the "Download PDF version" button in your order confirmation email from MOD BIKES. Can’t find it? Email us at howdy@mod-bikes.com with your name and order number, and we’ll send it to you\


Step 3: Login & Locate your Utilities Account Number

  • You can find the number at the top of your latest statement from Austin Energy/City of Austin. 

Step 4: Locate your Bike’s VIN

  • The VIN is engraved on the front of the bike frame, just above the front fork. The VIN can also be printed on a barcode sticker under your bottom bracket. (The VIN starts with 2-3 Letters followed by a series of numbers. Ex: “SMN2001042”)

Step 5: Begin the Online Application

  • Go to Austin Energy > Click “How to Apply” > Click “Apply Online” 

  • Check the “Electric Account Holder” box > Enter your Account Number > Enter your house number & zipcode > Click “Next”


Step 6: Continue the Online Application

  • Enter your Personal Information & Click “Next” > Select the “Applicant” Box & Click “Next” 

  • Select the “+” Button & add the number of bikes you are requesting a rebate for, and select “Ok”

  • Fill out the information as follows:

    • Quantity: 1 (NOTE: If you are requesting a rebate for more than one bike, you’ll repeat these steps.)

    • Cost: Only include the total of the bike plus tax (do not include accessories)

    • Type: E-Bike: Two-Wheel (Sidecar not considered 3-wheels)

    • Manufacturer: MOD BIKES

    • Model: As shown on the invoice (ie, MOD City+, MOD Berlin, MOD Easy, or MOD Black, etc.)

    • VIN: Imprinted on your bike frame or on a barcode sticker under the bottom bracket. 

    • Dealership: MOD BIKES

  • At the bottom of the page, you will see the Rebate amount you are qualified for. 

  • Press the blue "+" button to add additional bikes

  • If you are finished, click "Next".

Step 7: Finish the Online Application

  • Upload your invoice & specification sheet(s) > Agree to the Terms & Conditions and select “Next” > Review your information & Click “Submit” 

  • NOTE: Write down/Save your Confirmation Number

Step 8: Check the Status of your Online Application

  • Go to the Austin Energy website (or click here). > Click "How to Apply" > Click “Check Status”

  • Enter the Confirmation Number > Click “Search”

  • NOTE: It may take 6-8 weeks to receive your rebate check, so we recommend that you wait until after that timeframe to reach out regarding its status.

FAQs

  • What if I live in Austin but do not have Austin Energy or COA Utilities? Austin Energy/COA Utilities are the only local energy providers offering a rebate.

  • What if I do not own where I live? The account name on the receipt for the purchase must match the account address and name on your energy account.
  • What if I do not pay the account directly? As long as the account holder's name & and address match the purchaser's name & address, the application can be submitted.

  • What is the rebate amount? $400 for e-bike purchases under $2000, $600 for e-bike purchases over $2000, and qualifying Customer Assistance Program (CAP) members can get up to $1300.
