NOTE: We highly recommend professional assembly. Visit your local bike shop or book a mobile technician through Velofix.

Step 2: Learn the Basics

Once assembled, review the User Guide to learn essential functions and riding basics:

⚠️ Important Safety Warning – Rear Rack Use

The rear rack on your MOD Black is not designed or rated to carry passengers. It is intended only for carrying cargo or approved MOD accessories.

Carrying passengers on the rack can cause frame or rack failure, resulting in serious injury or voiding your warranty.
Always use the rack strictly within its rated weight limit and for its intended purpose.

Step 3: Learn Tips & Tricks

Headlight & Taillight

Hold the + button for 3 seconds to turn the headlight and taillight ON/OFF.

MOD Connect

Your MOD Black pairs wirelessly with Lumos Ultra helmets for turn signals and brake lights. See the connection guide: MOD Connect

Version Number

Located on the back of the seat post. No number = Version 01 or 02.

Serial Number

Located on the front frame, directly under the head tube.

Mounting Points

Pre-drilled mounts for a water bottle holder, and Foldylock.

Dual Battery Compatible

Your MOD Black supports a second battery for extended range.

USB Port

There’s a hidden USB port under the display that can power your MOD USB Rechargeable Headlight, MOD Alert, Lumos Ultra Helmet, or even your phone.

Error Code 25

Avoid holding the brakes when powering on the bike, or the display will show FAULT 25.

PSI

Check the tire sidewall for the recommended PSI.

Rear Suspension Adjustment

Adjust the rear suspension to match your weight and riding style. This improves comfort, control, and prevents damage.

See the full setup instructions here: How to Setup the MOD Black Rear Suspension

Rigid Seat Post (for shorter riders)

All MOD BIKES include a suspension seat post, but the built-in suspension adds a few inches of height and limits how low the seat can go. If you need a lower minimum seat height, swap the suspension post for a rigid seat post.

Troubleshooting

  • Loose handlebars or stem → Tighten stem bolts securely using a torque wrench (typically 5–7 Nm) and confirm alignment with the front wheel.

  • Brakes rubbing or misaligned → Loosen the caliper bolts, squeeze the brake lever to center the caliper, then retighten bolts while holding the lever.

  • Pedals won’t thread in or feel stuck → Confirm you're installing the correct pedal on the correct side (L/R marked). Thread in by hand before tightening with a wrench.

  • Chain falls off or shifts poorly → Check derailleur alignment, limit screws, and chain routing. Adjust cable tension using the barrel adjuster if needed.

  • Crank or other bolts keep loosening → Remove the bolt, apply thread locker (like Loctite Blue), and re-tighten to spec.
