MOD DIY Snap-On Slider | User Guide

In this article: You’ll install the MOD DIY Snap-On Slider onto your bike’s rear rack. This proprietary MOD Bikes system is not compatible with any other brand of rack.

Note: Unlike our standard Snap-On accessories, which come with the slider pre-installed, the DIY Slider serves as a universal base for your own custom setup — perfect for mounting a bag, crate, or any other accessory you’d like to make Snap-On compatible.

Use this guide if you’re installing a slider onto a non-MOD accessory or creating your own custom add-on.

Tools you will need

  • Adjustable Wrench (included in your bike tool kit)
  • Multitool with Allen Wrenches (included in your bike tool kit)
  • Bolt Tray (or any small container for screws)
  • M10 bolts with matching M10 nuts (to install your accessory to slider)
  • Included slider hardware:

Preparation

  • Ensure your bike is powered off and standing securely on the kickstand.
  • Confirm you have all slider parts.

Steps to Install Slider onto the Rear Rack

Step 1: Identify the Front of the Slider

  • Turn the slider upside down so you’re looking at the bottom view.
  • Locate the two small notches near one end — this is the front of the slider.

Step 2: Align the Slider with the Rear Rack

  • Hold the slider base above the MOD rear rack.
  • Line up the front and rear pins with the slots on the rack’s top plate.
  • Make sure the front of the slider is facing the seat.

Step 3: Snap the Slider into Place

  • Push the slider straight down and back until you hear a “click.”
  • This sound confirms the slider is securely locked onto the rack.

Step 4: Check Slider is Secure

  • You shouldn’t see any gap between the slider and the rack.

Steps to Attach Your Accessory to the Slider

Once you know how your DIY Slider is installed, you can securely mount your own accessory to it—like a bag, crate, or custom rack—using the pre-drilled holes.

Step 1: Align Your Accessory

  • Place your accessory on top of the slider and align its mounting holes with the holes on the slider base.

Step 2: Insert the Bolt

  • Feed an M10 bolt through one of the aligned holes from the top of your accessory down into the slider. Check that it passes cleanly through both layers.

Step 3: Insert the Nut

  • From the underside of the slider, place one M10 nut into the matching hex-shaped cavity directly below the bolt. The nut should fit snugly in the slot and stay in place while you hold it with your finger.

Step 4: Tighten the Bolt

  • While holding the nut with your finger, tighten the bolt from the top using a screwdriver or wrench. As you tighten, the nut will lock itself into the plastic cavity, so you don’t need a tool underneath.

Step 5: Repeat Steps 2-4 for Each Mounting Point On Your Accessory

Note: Give your accessory a gentle shake to ensure it’s securely fastened and doesn’t move or rattle. If it feels loose, double-check that each bolt is tight and every nut is fully seated.

Want to Keep Your Accessory Secure?

We offer a Snap On Lock designed to keep your mounted items safe from theft. Shop the MOD Snap On Lock

Once your accessory is mounted to the DIY Slider, follow the same steps from Installing the Slider onto the Rear Rack to attach your new setup to your bike.

To Remove the Slider

  • To remove the slider, pull the locking pin downward to release.
  • Then push the slider forward toward the seat to disengage it from the rack.

Troubleshooting

  • Slider won’t click or lock into place  Double-check that the front notches are facing the seat. The slider must be oriented correctly. Make sure the keyhole pins on the rack are aligned with the slots on the slider before pressing down. Check that there’s no debris or obstruction inside the rack slots.
  • Slider feels loose or wobbly after installation → Ensure the slider has fully “clicked” into place. You should hear and feel the lock engage. Check the locking pin to verify it’s seated correctly. If it still feels loose, remove and reinstall the slider — it may not be fully aligned.

⚠️ Note: Do not ride if the slider is loose. Re-secure before use.

FAQs

  • Can I install MOD Snap-On accessories without the slider?
No. The slider is required to mount any MOD Snap-On accessory. It’s what locks the accessory securely to your bike’s rack.

  • Is the slider compatible with non-MOD racks?
No. The MOD slider is a proprietary design and only fits MOD Bikes racks equipped with the Snap-On system.

  • Can I leave the slider installed all the time?
Yes. It’s designed to stay in place even when you remove the accessory. It won’t affect your ride or interfere with other gear.

  • Do I need to lubricate or maintain the slider?
Generally, no. Just make sure it stays clean and free of dirt or debris.

  • How do I know it’s locked in securely?
You’ll hear a clear “click” when it locks, and the slider won’t move when pulled forward or backward.

  • How can I keep items secure inside the basket while riding?

We recommend using the MOD Cargo Net, designed to fit perfectly over the front basket and keep your belongings snug and secure while you ride. You can find it here.
