How to install Tannus Armour

Tannus Armour Installation

Before you begin: We highly recommend having this product installed by a professional bike mechanic. If you wish to install the armour yourself, we have compiled some instructions to get you riding again.

Remove Wheel

Remove Tube

Install Armour

  • Be sure the armour side walls are not longer than the sidewalls of the tire. If they are, the armour insert is cuttable. We recommend cutting it just above the text that runs around the side wall of the Tannus insert. NOTE: Make sure you cut in a smooth line all the way around.

TIPS & TRICKS: We know it can be tricky to get the insert inside of the tire; we recommend adding a little talcum powder to the inside of your tire before attempting the install.

  • Slide the armour inside the tire working your way around the rim of the wheel.
  • Grab your tube, and fill it roughly 20% with air to ease installation.
  • Starting with your the valve stem end, install the tube as you normally would, placing it between the rim of the wheel and the inside of the Tannus Armour.

Remount Tire

  • Starting at the valve stem end, fold the wire bead of the tire back into the rim of the wheel. You will most likely need to utilize your tire levers once the wire bead is about 80% folded in.
  • Once the wire bead is seated, run your hands along the tire, massaging and twisting it to prevent pinch flats from occurring.

Remount Wheel

  • To remount your wheel to your bike, please see this article: article placeholder.

Now you can ride with peace of mind knowing you're protected from 90% of common causes of flats!
